Hikes that are close

Don't want to hike? Drive up little or big cottonwood canyon and it will blow your mind.

Favorite easy, pretty walk? Silver Lake at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon which primarily has Limestone rock. It is wheel chair accessible but it is at 9000 feet so keep that in mind.

Favorite beautiful short hike? Cecret Lake up Little Cottonwood Canyon. This looks straight down the canyon which has limestone and granite rock cliffs. It is the busiest hike in the Salt Lake Valley but there is good reason for it. Go early for limited parking if doing it during the day but catching sunset is way better.

Favorite big day hike? Mt Olympus. The start of this is actually quite close to the venue. You can see it from the top of the property and you will certainly see it while you're driving around. its only 3 miles but its 3000 feet of elevation gain. In June it will be hot; start at 6 am or earlier, if there is a snow on the mountain don't do it. There are other big mountains to hike but don't waste your time.

Here for a week or two? Road trip!

Moab in June is doable; but under certain circumstances. Sleeping and adventuring there is comfortable if the day time temperature is 95 degrees or less. Hike early in the morning, chase water in the mid day. Ice cream any time. Hotels are sparse there and sleeping in the heat can be uncomfortable or unobtainable. Zion will be too hot, it is very close to Vegas. Bryce is pretty cool and at a higher elevation; if Moab is too hot, go to Bryce where its at 8500 feet.
